Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing on medium speed until combined.

  5. 5

    Add Boiling Water

Carefully stir in the boiling water into the batter. The batter will be thin.

  6. 6

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool the Cakes

Remove from the oven and let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 8

    Prepare the Frosting

In a medium bowl, beat the butter with a mixer until creamy.

  2. 9

    Add Cocoa Powder

Gradually add the cocoa powder, mixing until fully incorporated.

  3. 10

    Add Sugar and Milk

Alternately add the powdered sugar and milk, beating until smooth and fluffy.

  4. 11

    Finish with Vanilla

Stir in the vanilla extract until well mixed.

Assembly

  1. 12

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top of the first layer.

  2. 13

    Add Second Layer

Place the second layer on top and spread frosting evenly on the top and sides of the cake.

  3. 14

    Serve

Slice and serve the chocolate cake. Enjoy!
