Calamari
Method
Instructions
Prepare the Calamari
Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
Make the Breading
In a bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
Soak in Buttermilk
Place the calamari in another bowl and pour the buttermilk over them, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for 15 minutes.
Dredge the Calamari
After marinating, remove each calamari ring from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, and dredge them in the flour mixture until well coated.
Heat the Oil
In a deep pan or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the breaded calamari rings to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Serve
Serve hot with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
