Chill & Prepare Glassware
1. Chill glasses (optional but recommended)
Place the wine glasses in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill them with ice water while you prepare the bottle. Chilling the glasses lightly helps keep the beer cooler longer without diluting it.
2. If you chilled the glasses with ice water, empty and quickly dry them so the ice in the serving bowl doesn’t melt into the beer when poured.
Prepare Ice Bed
3. Select a small serving bowl or the chosen tray area and add the ice cubes to form a shallow bed large enough to sit the 40 oz bottle partially nestled in. The intention is to keep the bottle cold while it’s on the table, not to submerge the bottle neck.
4. If using wine glasses as vessels for the ice (for presentation), place a small handful of ice into each wine glass so that when the bottle is set on the tray the glasses remain chilled and ready for pouring.
Open & Serve Beer
5. Inspect the 40 oz Miller High Life for any damage or foreign objects. Wipe the bottle neck with a clean cloth if needed.
6. Use the bottle opener to remove the cap. If the bottle is a twist-off, twist the cap off by hand.
7. Place the opened 40 oz bottle on the prepared ice bed so the base and lower body sit in the ice to stay cold during service.
8. Pouring into wine glasses: Hold a wine glass at a slight angle (about 45°). Start pouring the Miller High Life gently down the side of the glass to minimize foam. Gradually tilt the glass upright as it fills. Fill each wine glass to about three-quarters full, leaving room for the head (about 1/2–1 inch of foam) and to prevent spills.
9. If heavy foam develops, pause and let it settle, then continue pouring slowly. Aim for a modest, creamy head typical of a lager — not more than 1/2 inch for a wine glass presentation.
Present & Enjoy
11. Set the tray with the iced bottle and the two filled wine glasses in front of guests. Provide coasters or napkins to catch condensation.
12. Encourage guests to sip the lager from the wine glass to experience aroma and flavor in a different vessel. Keep the bottle on the ice bed; top up glasses from the bottle as desired.
13. When finished, discard ice melt and rinse glasses and tray. Recycle the empty bottle according to local regulations.
